Hellooooooo Christmas! (wtf how is 2017 nearly over!!?)
And also a hello to lots of food, lots of drinks and LOTS of fun spent with friends & family!
Now, lets just all take a moment to appreciate all of the delicious food we have eaten over the past few days (or weeks if ya know what I mean…Christmas parties, lunches etc). One of my biggest achievements over the last 12 months has been improving my relationship with food so I want to jump right on in to my very first (and what I would consider most important of all) tip:
1 – APPRECIATE THE FOODS YOU HAVE EATEN. ENJOY THEM! (more…)
Omg you guys this is actually amazing!! I’m getting a little bit sick of chocolate protein as I’ve had a bit of an overload the past few months, so this is a refreshing change away from the standard ‘berries, spinach and chocolate’ smoothies.
A delicious, protein and healthy fat packed smoothie perfect for breakfast or a snack!
4 tablespoons of dessicated coconut
Half a banana (more…)
My work/life balance has been WAY out of whack lately, so I’ve had to focus a lot on food prep on the weekends to make sure I’m making the best food choices I can, quickly, during the week!
I’m not normally one to promote packaged and processed foods, but I think Sarah Wilson’s I Quit Sugar range at Coles and Woolworths does a pretty good job of cutting out preservatives and additives and it’s a really good option if you’re on the run. (more…)
I’ve stumbled across a few amazing Podcasts in the last 6 months. I’m really into Podcasts as I commute an hour to and from work every day, and I find it a really easy way to soak in some extra Health & Fitness knowledge without having to be in a class! Plus, I feel like I’m actually doing something interesting with my commute and using my brain!
One of my favourite newest additions is Kimberly Snyder’s Beauty Inside Out which I listen to through iTunes. (more…)
Continuing on my Candida diet, I wanted to treat myself over the weekend after sticking to it alllllll week! So, I got to researching and edited a few healthy protein pancake recipes I came across to suit the Candida requirements. I do have to say, I think the cinnamon was a game-changer!
A yummy, easy and healthy version of a weekend breakfast in bed fave!
1/2 cup almond & coconut milk (or milk of your choice)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
Pinch of cinnamon to taste
2 slices organic sourdough (I have just found Bills brand bread & fruit loaf and I am in love! I am Gluten intolerant, but find I can tolerate this bread in small amounts) (more…)
I’ve recently purchased Sally Obermeder’s Super Green Smoothie book as I found I was in a bit of a ‘smoothie rut’ and got in the habit of making the same smoothie every morning. It’s given me lots of new inspiration & flavour ideas and I was bursting to try out a smoothie in my new Thermomix!
I buy a bunch of bananas and kale at the start of the week and separate them into zip lock bags and pop them in the freezer so they are ready to go in the mornings!
This particular mix is:
1 frozen banana
1 cup frozen kale or baby spinach
1 cup mango (fresh or frozen)
1 cup almond & coconut milk
1 tablespoon chia seeds
Honey to taste (you can use Stevia, coconut sugar or Agave if you would like a Vegan option)
Put everything in the Thermomix and blend on speed 10 for 2 mins. SO smooth & creamy! And if you are using a normal blender, blend kale and almond milk first for 1 minute on the lowest setting, then add all other ingredients and blend on the highest setting for another 2 minutes.
