SURF MUPPETS NEW SQUEEZES

My friend, the Surf Muppet had seen my previous juice post and is intrigued with making his own, healthy juices, so I have been giving a few different recipes a try for a bit of variety.

My absolute favourite will always be Watermelon and mint. So simple and refreshing. Add some Coconut Water if you want to dilute it a little, and it adds in some natural electrolytes.

If you’re looking for something a little more filling, add in veggies like spinach and a frozen banana is always perfect to make a smoothie!
TIP: If you are using leafy ingredients like kale or mint, either freeze them overnight and blend separately with water on the lowest setting (it creates a vortex and pulls the greens into the middle to break them up), or put them through the juicer with watery ingredients like apple, cucumber or watermelon to get the most out of their health benefits & flavours.
These are some of my other go-to recipes:

TANGY TREAT
(From my previous Juice post, and still my number 1 go to juice for breakfast!)
Coconut water blended with frozen kale and beetroot leaves then added to the juice of:
1 beetroot
1 – 2 cups pineapple
1 apple
1 carrot
2 stalks of celery
1 cucumber
2 kiwi fruit
1 passionfruit.

BEETROOT BLAST
1 beetroot
1 cucumber
2 stalks of celery
1 apple
1/2 a lemon
Ginger to taste

GREEN MACHINE
A simple, easy green juice
2 apples
2 pears
1 cucumber
A handful of mint leaves
A handful of kale

SWEET STRAWBERRY & GINGER
3 carrots
2 apples
1 -2 cup strawberries
Ginger to taste

VITAMIN C BOOST
2 oranges
5 carrots
2 big handfuls of kale
1/2 a lemon
1 cucumber
Ginger to taste

BROCCOLI?!
2 apples
1 cucumber
4 stalks of celery
1/2 a broccoli head
1/4 of a pineapple (or pineapple to taste)
Ginger to taste
(I promise the apple and pineapple cancel out the actual taste of the broccoli!)

Keep this in mind, and add in whatever ingredients you feel your body is lacking:
– Ginger helps to calm & soothe the digestive system
– Lemon & cucumber help to alkalinise & detox the body
– Kale adds lots of iron & chloryphill which detoxes your body & gives energy
– Carrots add lots of Vitamin A & C to keep our immune systems up

I have also just purchased a Thermomix & am so excited to be making my juices and smoothies in my very own ‘Thermie’ 🙂 to make a juice, just place all the ingredients into the Thermomix bowl and blend for 2 mins/speed 10.  Check the consistency and if you’d like it a bit runnier, add some more water and blend again for 30 sec/speed 10.

My slow juicer was only $79 from K-Mart and it’s great!
